Burleigh Blue Calico
Burleigh's ever-popular calico collection has been produced continuously in their Stoke-on-Trent factory for over 40 years. Although unique, this famous pattern was derived from early Victorian designs which in turn had roots in Chinese porcelain; the deep cobalt blue print representing fallen prunus blossom onto cracked ice.
Burleigh specialise in underglaze transfer printing - a very labour intensive decorating method which has been used for more than 200 years. Burleigh are the last English pottery company that still continues this traditional and highly skilled hand decorating process.
