Royal Doulton Character Jug, Mr. Micawber D5843 (black hat; green coat; blue polka-dot bow tie). Designed by Leslie Harradine and Harry Fenton. Series: Charles Dickens’ Characters, issued 1938 – 1948.

In Charles Dickens’ classic, “David Copperfield,” Wilkins Micawber is Copperfield’s landlord and friend. A sanguine idler, Micawber unmasks Uriah Heep as a villain and is rewarded with passage to Australia, where he settles happily in a prominent neighborhood.
